Bland AI advertises AI phone calls starting at just $0.14 per minute. Sounds affordable, right? But once you factor in the monthly subscription fees and additional telephony charges, the actual cost can be considerably higher than the advertised rate.
And if you’re planning to handle thousands of customer calls every month, even small differences in per-minute pricing can add up quickly. To complicate things further, Bland AI doesn’t publicly disclose its Enterprise pricing.
In this guide, we’ll break down Bland AI’s pricing plans, explain what you’ll actually pay at different call volumes, and uncover the additional charges you should know about. We’ll also compare Bland’s pricing with popular alternatives to help you decide whether it’s worth the investment.

The Start plan starts at $0.14/minute
Bland AI’s Start plan is designed for developers and smaller teams that want to build AI phone agents without committing to a monthly subscription. There’s no platform fee, and you don’t even need a credit card to sign up. However, the plan isn’t completely free because you still pay for the minutes your agents spend on calls.

According to Bland AI’s official pricing page, here’s what you get with Start:
- $0.14 per minute of AI talk time, with no monthly platform fee.
- $0.05 per minute for transferred calls when using Bland’s telephony.
- 10 concurrent calls, meaning your agents can handle up to 10 conversations simultaneously.
- 100 calls per day, with the same limit applying to hourly call volume.
- 10 knowledge bases for storing information that your agents can use during conversations.
- 1 voice for your AI agents.
- 2 introductory credits and an inbound phone number, which Bland values at $15 per month.
- Access to conversational pathways, integrations, and automations for building agents that follow instructions and connect with business systems.
- A 99.9% uptime SLA, along with standard account and billing support.
One thing that is good about Bland’s pricing is that the $0.14 rate already includes the language model, speech recognition, and voice generation. You don’t have to calculate separate charges for each component.
However, telephony costs aren’t included. You’ll still pay your carrier or Bland’s telephony provider for phone connectivity. If you bring your own telephony provider, Bland says it won’t charge the additional transfer fee.
To put the pricing into perspective, 1,000 minutes of AI conversations would cost $140 before telephony charges.
The limitations of the Start plan
The biggest issue is how quickly you can outgrow it. A limit of 100 calls per day might be fine for testing agents or handling a small number of customer inquiries, but it could become restrictive for a busy contact center.
You also won’t get access to several advanced features, including warm transfers, live transfers, protected calls, and advanced monitoring. SMS and web chat are reserved for Enterprise customers, as are features such as single sign on and data residency controls.
Our verdict? Start is a reasonable option for testing Bland AI and handling smaller call volumes. But if you need more than 10 simultaneous calls, multiple voices, or advanced customer service capabilities, you’ll need to consider an upgrade.
The Build plan starts at $0.12/minute
Bland AI’s Build plan is designed for teams that have moved beyond testing and need to handle more phone calls. It lowers the usage rate to $0.12 per minute, but there’s a catch: you’ll also pay a $299 monthly platform fee, regardless of how many calls you make.
According to Bland AI’s pricing page, here’s what the Build plan includes:
- $0.12 per minute of AI conversation time, with language model usage, transcription, and voice generation included.
- $299 monthly platform fee, charged separately from your call usage.
- $0.04 per minute for transferred calls when using Bland’s telephony. Transfers are free when you bring your own Twilio number.
- 50 concurrent calls, allowing your AI voice agent setup to handle more customers simultaneously.
- 2,000 calls per day, with an additional limit of 1,000 calls per hour.
- 5 voice clones, giving you more options for voice cloning and how your Bland AI voice agents sound.
- 50 knowledge bases for connecting agents to business information and answering customer questions.
- Access to conversational pathways, integrations, and automations for controlling agent behavior and completing tasks in connected systems.
- 99.9% uptime SLA and standard account and billing support.
Build is a considerable upgrade if you’re running regular outbound call campaigns or handling hundreds of incoming calls every day. The higher limits give you more room to operate without worrying about reaching the restrictions on the Start plan.
However, the lower minute rate doesn’t automatically make Build cheaper.
For example, 10,000 minutes of AI conversations would cost $1,200 in usage fees, plus the $299 subscription. That’s $1,499 per month before telephony charges, compared to $1,400 on Start.
You’d need to use more than 14,950 minutes per month for Build’s lower conversation rate to offset its subscription fee, assuming no transfer charges.
The limitations of the Build plan
Despite the higher price, Build still doesn’t include several features that larger customer service teams might need.
Warm transfers, live transfers, advanced guardrails, and dedicated monitoring are reserved for Enterprise. The same applies to SMS, web chat, and advanced compliance controls.
You’ll also need to account for additional costs. Telephony is billed separately, and Bland charges a minimum of $0.015 for an outbound call attempt using its telephony, including failed calls. Its Norm development assistant also has separate usage charges.
Our verdict? Build makes sense when you need higher calling capacity or more voice customization than Start allows. But if you’re mainly interested in a cheaper per-minute rate, check your actual call volume first. The $299 subscription can easily outweigh the savings.
The Enterprise plan has custom pricing
Bland AI’s Enterprise plan is designed for those businesses handling large numbers of customer calls that need more capacity, dedicated infrastructure, and additional security controls. You get access to the full platform, but there’s one problem: Bland AI doesn’t publish how much Enterprise costs.
According to Bland, Enterprise contracts use custom pricing based on your expected call volume. Both the AI conversation rate and transfer rate are negotiated, so you’ll need to contact sales to find out your monthly costs.
Here’s what Enterprise includes:
- Custom conversation and transfer rates based on your contracted usage.
- Unlimited daily and hourly calls, with concurrent calling capacity negotiated according to your requirements.
- Unlimited voices and knowledge bases, plus the option to use a custom voice actor for greater control over voice quality.
- Dedicated infrastructure, including orchestration servers, priority call queues, and optional private cloud or on-premises deployment.
- Advanced calling features, including warm transfers, live transfers, protected calls, custom dialing, and conversation monitoring.
- Additional communication channels, including SMS, web chat, and iMessage.
- Enterprise security features, including single sign on, data residency controls, and Business Associate Agreements for applicable healthcare deployments.
- Dedicated engineering support, with access to Bland’s engineering team for implementation and ongoing optimization.
Bland also offers a 99.9% uptime SLA, although this is the same published guarantee available on its other plans.
How much does Bland AI Enterprise actually cost?
Unfortunately, we couldn’t find a verified Enterprise contract price or minimum annual commitment.
However, Bland’s billing documentation provides an interesting reference point.
It still lists a Scale plan costing $499 per month plus $0.11 per minute, even though that plan has disappeared from the main pricing page.
Using those published Scale rates, here’s what higher call volumes would cost:
| Monthly AI conversation minutes | Estimated monthly cost |
| 10,000 minutes | $1,599 |
| 25,000 minutes | $3,249 |
| 50,000 minutes | $5,999 |
| 100,000 minutes | $11,499 |
These estimates include the $499 Scale platform fee but exclude telephony and other usage charges. They are not Enterprise quotes. An Enterprise agreement could have lower conversation rates but additional infrastructure commitments, so the total cost might be higher or lower.
Are there additional Enterprise charges?
Bland includes language model processing, transcription, and voice generation in its per-minute rates. However, that doesn’t mean your entire phone system is covered.
According to its billing documentation, other potential charges include:
- Telephony: Bland charges carrier costs separately when using its integrated telephony. If you bring your own provider, you’ll pay your own carrier fees directly.
- Call transfers: Enterprise transfer rates are negotiated. Customers using their own Twilio numbers don’t pay Bland’s transfer minute charges.
- Outbound call attempts: Bland documents a minimum charge of $0.015 for outbound attempts using its telephony, including unsuccessful attempts.
- SMS and web chat: Standard rates are $0.02 per SMS message and $0.01 per web widget agent message, although Enterprise contracts may specify different rates.
- Norm assistant usage: Bland’s agent development assistant uses separate token based billing, depending on the complexity and length of requests.
These are documented billing components, not necessarily hidden fees. The important question is which ones are included or changed in your Enterprise contract.
Before signing, ask Bland to calculate your total cost using actual usage estimates, including average call duration and expected monthly volume.
Our verdict? Enterprise is worth evaluating if you’re already handling substantial call volumes or need features unavailable on Build. But without a published starting price, it’s difficult to know whether the lower negotiated minute rate will justify the additional commitment. We’d recommend getting a detailed quote before making that decision.
Is Bland AI worth it?
Bland AI is worth considering if your business handles a lot of phone calls and wants to automate them without building its own voice AI infrastructure.
Bland offers conversational agents, customizable call flows, and integrations with external systems. Its pricing model is also relatively easy to understand, since language model processing, transcription, and voice generation are included in the advertised minute rates.
But whether Bland AI is worth paying for depends on a few things:
- Your call volume: Bland AI’s pricing plans make more sense at different usage levels. Start is reasonable for testing and smaller operations, while Build offers higher calling limits and a lower minute rate. The $299 monthly fee means Build won’t necessarily be cheaper unless you’re handling enough calls or need the additional capacity.
- What you’re trying to automate: Bland is particularly relevant for inbound customer service and high-volume outbound campaigns. However, you should measure how many calls actually achieve their intended outcome. A five-minute conversation that fails to resolve a customer’s issue still costs money.
- Your technical resources: Bland provides considerable control over conversation pathways and integrations, but getting complex agents to behave consistently can require development work. Some G2 reviewers praise its flexibility and performance, while others mention a steep learning curve.
- Security and compliance requirements: Businesses in regulated industries may appreciate Bland’s Enterprise options, including private deployments, data residency controls, and Business Associate Agreements. However, these features require a custom contract, and buyers should confirm exactly which compliance obligations Bland can support.
Voice quality deserves particular attention, too. Bland has received positive feedback for its conversational speed, but individual experiences vary. We’d recommend testing it with real customer scenarios, including interruptions, unusual questions, background noise, and requests that require human assistance.
Our verdict? Bland AI can be a good investment if you’re focused heavily on phone automation, especially if you have the technical resources to configure and maintain your agents.
But don’t judge its value by the advertised minute rate alone. Calculate your total monthly costs, including telephony and transfers, and compare that figure against the number of customer requests your agents successfully complete.
If your customer service operation also relies heavily on email, chat, and other digital channels, we’d recommend comparing Bland AI alternatives before making a decision.
Bland AI alternatives and their pricing
Bland AI offers relatively predictable pricing for phone automation, but it’s worth comparing its costs with other voice AI platforms before committing. Some alternatives charge only for actual usage, while others offer annual contracts that cover a broader set of customer service capabilities.
Here’s how four Bland AI alternatives compare on pricing:
| Starting price | Pricing model | Best for | |
| Quiq | Custom pricing | Annual contracts with prepaid usage pools, based primarily on conversation volume rather than call minutes | Enterprises automating customer service across voice and digital channels |
| Retell AI | $0.07–$0.31/minute | Pay as you go with no mandatory monthly subscription; telephony and optional services cost extra | Businesses looking for flexible voice agents without a fixed monthly commitment |
| Vapi AI | $0.05/minute + provider costs | Usage pricing for hosting, plus separate charges for language models, speech to text, voice generation, and telephony | Developers who want control over their voice AI infrastructure |
| Synthflow | $30,000/year | Custom annual contracts based on call volume, concurrency, integrations, and deployment requirements | Enterprises looking for a managed voice AI deployment with implementation support |
Quiq uses a different approach to pricing. Instead of charging per call minute, we base our pricing primarily on conversation volume. Customers purchase annual usage pools, making it easier to forecast spending across voice, chat, SMS, and other channels. We don’t publish fixed plan tiers, so you’ll need a custom quote. Optional managed services and selected premium features can add to the total cost.
Retell AI and Vapi AI offer more flexibility for smaller deployments. Retell has no mandatory monthly platform fee, and its advertised voice agent rates include the voice infrastructure, model, and voice processing, with telephony charged separately.
Vapi starts at just $0.05 per minute, but you’ll also pay for the services powering each conversation. It offers optional support packages, including Core at $29 per month and Pro with a $999 monthly minimum, on top of usage charges.
Both platforms let you experiment with different voice providers, although using multiple voice clones or premium voices may affect your final bill.
Synthflow takes a more enterprise-focused approach. Its contracts start at $30,000 annually, with deployment support and commercial terms agreed in advance. This can offer predictable pricing for established contact centers, but the annual commitment is difficult to justify if you’re still testing whether voice automation delivers meaningful cost savings.
Finally, don’t overlook telephony when calculating your total costs. Bland’s SIP endpoints can connect to existing phone infrastructure, but using your own SIP trunk doesn’t eliminate your carrier fees. Ask each provider to clarify its SIP cost, call transfer charges, and any usage limits before comparing quotes.
The cheapest advertised rate isn’t necessarily the cheapest solution. Your actual cost will depend on conversation length, call volume, chosen AI models, and how many calls your agents successfully resolve.
Get the better Bland AI alternative for voice AI
Bland AI offers plenty of flexibility for building voice agents, but its pricing can become less attractive as your call volume grows. Between per-minute charges, monthly platform fees, and additional telephony costs, you’ll need to keep a close eye on spending. And even then, you’re primarily paying for phone automation.
At Quiq, we help businesses automate customer service across voice, chat, SMS, email, and other digital channels. Our AI Agents can answer customer questions, access information from your business systems, and complete requests without involving a human agent.
We also give you more control over the customer experience. With Process Guides, you can define how agents handle specific requests. Verify Claim checks responses against approved information, while Conversation Analysts help you identify problems and improve performance.
Our pricing is based primarily on conversation volume rather than call duration, with annual usage commitments tailored to your business. You’ll also have access to AI Assistants that help human agents handle conversations requiring personal attention.
If you’re evaluating Bland AI but need a platform that supports your entire customer service operation, we’d love to show you what Quiq can do.
